The AASCW awards communities based on the nominations that they receive.  Olbrich received multiple nominations.  Please find below one of the nominations that was submitted to AASCW.

Olbrich By The Lake Apartments has my vote for property of the year.  The architecture of these beautiful apartments is completely unique-no boring box-shaped rooms!  The beautiful cathedral ceilings are complemented by skylights bringing the light and sunshine indoors.  I love the spacious loft area-having an upstairs makes it seem more like a real home.  Did I mention the porch, bathrooms, convenient washer and dryer-and who dosen’t love the walk-in closets?  The location can’t be beat-close to banks, grocery and drug stores, downtown, shopping malls, clinics and car mechanics-not to mention the beautiful sunsets over the lake!  The managers Doug & Marie Griesbach do an excellent job maintaining the property.  Whether major or minor-any problems I’ve had were attended to promptly and courteously.  In short, Olbrich By The Lake Apartments are definitely in a class by themselves!

For over 40 years Capital Community Citizens have presented Orchids & Onions awards to those who have especially improved or degraded the urban or natural environment in Dane County.  Olbrich By The Lake was awarded an Orchid award for developing an apartment building in an established area. 

When Fred Rouse had initially looked at purchasing the piece of land that Olbrich currently sits on there had been a restaurant.  A fellow co-worker who worked in the barber shop Fred owned had called him to take a look at the lot.  The rest is history…Fred bought the lot and developed it into what you see today…Olbrich By The Lake Apartments.
